The Internet has allowed us to create a unique Veterans Memorial, a virtual monument, universally accessible, where the veterans themselves, their moving images and words, are the Memorial.
The Veterans Memorial Archive is a collection of about 650 video interviews with veterans of World
War II and other conflicts. A good number are from Florida. About 50 clips from some of the interviews
are available on Google Video. The keyword is vetarchive. These clips provide a superb, interactive way
to teach young people about the contributions of our veterans. A program may be customized in various
ways (i.e. by Service, conflict or thematically to suit requirements). The Featured section suggests
points of departure. Brief summaries and videos are found in Videos. Interviews
summarizes the video clips featured in the previous section and gives overall statistics.
Our Activities page suggests curriculum development for various class levels that might be considered for a November 11th Veterans Day program or other occasions. About Us offers background information.
This project has the full support of the Sarasota Board of Education. We hope that it might continue
and even expand throughout the State of Florida. You can be a big help. Contact Us and provide feedback
so that we may grow this project together and allow us to demonstrate that this venture is both used and useful.
Please let us know if you have any thoughts, questions or suggestions and do check our Flyer.
